Deal on Transformers toys at Walmart!!!

My son LOOOOVES Transformers so this deal was soooo exciting to find. While shopping at Walmart today I found a stack of coupons next to the transformers for $5 off of a $5.99 transformers toy. I found some toys fo $7.68 and ended up only paying $2.68 each!!! I stocked up for Christmas!!!

These will also be great birthday gifts for little boys 3 and up. All of the little boys at my son's school play with and pretend to be transformers sooo they are very popular right now! Stock up for birthdays for the next year!

I was at the Wylie Walmart but I bet they are at most stores. There is also a printable coupon at Target.com that you can use at Walmart or Target if you can't find the coupons in your store.

Best deals this week!

Wow! I actually have a moment to post a blog. This is very rare lately but I only have one kiddo today and she is sleeping right now. Allie and I did a grocery run this morning to Albertsons and Walmart. I wanted to share some of the things I found today while at the stores.
FIrst of all, I now started back shopping at Albertsons and this is mainly because they have some great deals lately and they still double/triple coupons. Albertsons always has lots of  "peelie" coupons in store and can usually go in there without any coupons and get some good buys with the coupons offered in the store. Today, I had a list in hand and a  stack of coupons!
SOme of the best deals at Albertsons:

Kraft Singles were part of the mega event and there were some $.50 off of 1 blinkie coupons next to them. This made them only $.99!!! I priced these at walmart at around $3 so this was a great deal and I stocked up!!! I'm thinking that we will be having grilled cheese for lunch or dinner in the near future.

Another good buy was the C&H sugar on sale for 1.99 (also part of the mega event). I had a $.65 off 1 coupon making for some really cheap sugar. Another great stock up price so I used all of my coupons for this item.

Also, I found Pop Secret popcorn regular price 3.49ish.... got it for around a 1$ using a $.50/2 coupon and they were on sale B1G1 free!

At Walmart I found $5 off any transformer toy and I stocked up on Christmas gifts for my son. I will post about this deal soon.

I have also been price matching alot at Walmart. I usually find the best deals at all the stores and make a list with the item and price and the name of the store. I have had no issues or questions regarding the price matching. Walmart has been really great lately and has cut down some time by allowing me to get deals from various stores at one location. However, if it is a deal that requires a coupon to double/triple I will stop by that store and pick up the item.

One price match I did today was
Knorr Chicken/Beef Stock: Price match to Tom Thumb or Kroger for $2.99
used a $2 off 1 coupon and got it for $.99
These are priced at $3.28 each at Walmart

Today I spent around $82 but saved well over $120. So very successful day and this also included some Christmas gifts for my son!

UUGGHH! Walgreens and coupons

WOW! I had my first experience being treated rudely today for using coupons. I am very lucky that this is the first experience I have had in the two years that I have been couponing. I have always been treated with respect and like every other customer. Today the manager at the Wylie Walgreens used very harsh tone of voice and accused me of coupon fraud etc and did everything but yell at me in front of every customer in the store... just for using coupons and asking why I did not receive the RR after my transaction. Oh my was that manager on a high horse. I will say that some fellow couponers came to my rescue and defense while dealing with this lovely manager.
My point for blogging about this is to let you know that this store is not following their corporate mandated coupon policies. The things I purchased today were paper towels, diapers and two toothbrushes.... so not worth the hastle I was given in my opinion but she treated me so poorly and did everything but yell at me in the store.
This is not my first coupon trip so she messed with the wrong lady today....
I could go on and on about the changes with coupons lately and the respect given towards people who use them... and I blame TLC's show Extreme Couponing... I absolutely CAN"T STAND this show!!!! We do not watch it because it has made couponing a fad/trend instead of the real purpose to save families money. I will have to write another blog on the problems with this show and what this show has cost everyday couponers like myself.

Here are some of the false "rules" the manager told me today and I wanted to let you all know so that the same thing does not happen to you and you will know how to prove that they are wrong.

  • Walgreens coupon policy here and it clearly explains everything I'm about to mention.
  • She stated that I could not use a Walgreens and manufactuers coupon for the same item... wrong! In the ad for this week it clearly shows examples of this and I showed her the ad when this happened. The main thing to remember when pairing both coupons is to use a "filler" item (pencil, highlighter, candy, etc...) so that your item to coupon ratio matches. Also, hand over the manufactuer coupon then the walgreens coupon.
  • I was also told I could not use a filler item! What?! I told her that I simply just wanted to purchase a pencil and she stopped. I don't make their rules and policies.
  • She also stated that "I" needed to pay out of pocket the total amount "after" coupons before I would be given register rewards.... wrong again! Coupons are money and the amount needed to get register rewards is before coupons not "after".  Ex: a 2/$5 deal on toothbrushes and you get $3 register rewards back.... It does not matter what coupons you use as long as you have those items and you have paid for them (coupons or cash money)... you should get a RR!
  • The store gets reimbursed for the amount on the coupon so you are paying the store "money" when you use coupons... don't let people make you feel like you are cheating them out of money for those items.. these stores get ALL of the money back from the manufactuer of that item!
  • On Walgreens' help center on http://www.walgreens.com/ it clearly states their coupon policy and I wish I had brought it with me to the store today... it will be with me from now on.

This was my last and final trip to the Wylie Walgreens! I will gladly take my money and coupons to the Walgreens locations in Rockwall. The managers at these locations have always treated me with respect and they follow the corporate policies.
Thanks for listening (reading:))!

Tom Thumb frozen food deal and CVS diaper deal

This evening's trip to Tom Thumb was a perfect example of why I use a coupon binder. Tom Thumb is having a frozen food sale through 8/16. They have a $5 off of a $15 frozen food purchase in ad coupon that you can pair with manufactuers' coupons. The $15 is the total BEFORE coupons so.... this makes for some great deals. However, I had to go to the store with my coupon binder and calculator to figure out the best ones. I got $104.95 worth of frozen food items for only $35.56!!!
I did 5 transactions because I did 5 frozen food deals (they let me use the same in-ad coupon for each transaction)

Here is an example:
2 Digornio pizzas 2/$11 on sale
Totinos pizza $1.29
Totinos Pizza Stuffers 2.74
Total before coupons: $15.03 and before sale prices would have been $21.67
Used $5/$15 frozen foods in-ad store coupon
Used .75 off Totinos pizza stuffers
Used peelie found in store (on freezer door) $3/2 Digornio pizzas

Total came to $7.03!
68% savings!

I got the Huggies Slip-ons from CVS for free using ECB and coupons! I'm very excited to try these because Allie is so active right now and I think these will be so much easier to get on her. I love getting FREE diapers!
Here is my diaper deal:
Huggies Slip-on diapers jumbo packs $8.99
Use CVS coupon $2 off  (found on CVS website)
Use $3 off coupon SS8/14
Total: $3.99!

Pampers diapers at Walgreens

There is a great deal on Pampers at Walgreens!

Buy 3 Pampers diapers jumbo packs $9.99each
3 pocket highlighters $.09each (fillers)
Use 3 $1.50/1 coupon PG6/5
Use $2 Walgreens Pampers Coupon found in Walgreens Infant Care Book (will deduct $6 total)
Use any RR you have (I used $5 RR from last week)
My total: $14.47 OOP
Received $5 RR to use for next week

So... got 3 Jumbo packs of diapers for only $3.15 each!

Without RR it will total to $4.82 each (still a great deal)

Some things to remember when shopping at Walgreens
  • RR = Register Rewards (money given back from manufacturers/Walgreens
  • You have to have the same number of items as coupons (I use small pieces of candy or really cheap school supply items)
  • Always hand over the manufacturer coupons before the Walgreens coupons (less beepage)
  • If you repeat the deal above using the $5 P&G RR, you will not receive another RR from the diaper deal... my advice is to use the RR from P&G on other items... then use the new RRs on another 3 pack of Pampers.
