My point for blogging about this is to let you know that this store is not following their corporate mandated coupon policies. The things I purchased today were paper towels, diapers and two toothbrushes.... so not worth the hastle I was given in my opinion but she treated me so poorly and did everything but yell at me in the store.
This is not my first coupon trip so she messed with the wrong lady today....
I could go on and on about the changes with coupons lately and the respect given towards people who use them... and I blame TLC's show Extreme Couponing... I absolutely CAN"T STAND this show!!!! We do not watch it because it has made couponing a fad/trend instead of the real purpose to save families money. I will have to write another blog on the problems with this show and what this show has cost everyday couponers like myself.
Here are some of the false "rules" the manager told me today and I wanted to let you all know so that the same thing does not happen to you and you will know how to prove that they are wrong.
- Walgreens coupon policy here and it clearly explains everything I'm about to mention.
- She stated that I could not use a Walgreens and manufactuers coupon for the same item... wrong! In the ad for this week it clearly shows examples of this and I showed her the ad when this happened. The main thing to remember when pairing both coupons is to use a "filler" item (pencil, highlighter, candy, etc...) so that your item to coupon ratio matches. Also, hand over the manufactuer coupon then the walgreens coupon.
- I was also told I could not use a filler item! What?! I told her that I simply just wanted to purchase a pencil and she stopped. I don't make their rules and policies.
- She also stated that "I" needed to pay out of pocket the total amount "after" coupons before I would be given register rewards.... wrong again! Coupons are money and the amount needed to get register rewards is before coupons not "after". Ex: a 2/$5 deal on toothbrushes and you get $3 register rewards back.... It does not matter what coupons you use as long as you have those items and you have paid for them (coupons or cash money)... you should get a RR!
- The store gets reimbursed for the amount on the coupon so you are paying the store "money" when you use coupons... don't let people make you feel like you are cheating them out of money for those items.. these stores get ALL of the money back from the manufactuer of that item!
- On Walgreens' help center on http://www.walgreens.com/ it clearly states their coupon policy and I wish I had brought it with me to the store today... it will be with me from now on.
This was my last and final trip to the Wylie Walgreens! I will gladly take my money and coupons to the Walgreens locations in Rockwall. The managers at these locations have always treated me with respect and they follow the corporate policies.
Thanks for listening (reading:))!
I feel the exact same way. I hate the Extreme Couponing show. I have slowed down alot in couponing because it's just not as fun for me because everyone is doing it and stockpiling with way to much and not leaving anything for the people like me that just want to get the one deal.
ReplyDeleteI also hate the wylie walgreen's. I actually quit shopping at walgreen's all together about a year ago. I hate it when there are REALLY good deals that I pass up but I just can't go back. I have had multiple bad experiences at the wylie one and even at the sachse and murphy one. It's just not worth my time to get frustrated over a few things. And I absolutely cannot stand the filler item thing. It frustrates me so bad. I only shop at CVS now.
Sorry you had such a bad experience. I know the feeling.
